The most popular music genres listened to on Spotify in Romania are:

• Trap;

• Pop;
• Hip Hop.

The ranking of music genre’s popularity is based on three types of tracked variables: the total number of streams for songs categorised in a specific genre, and the total number of days spent in the Spotify Top 200 and Top 10 by genre-specific songs. The analysis of these data on Spotify consumption among users in Romania indicates the predominance of the three genres – Trap, Pop, and Hip Hop, regardless of the selection criteria. Differences in preferences only appear through the variable position of the three genres in the top three places of the ranking.

The following charts show the rankings of songs and artists within the three most played music genres – Pop, Trap, Hip Hop. For each category (song/artist), the charts show the top 10 ranked entries according to two types of variables.

• The top 10 songs are ranked by total streams / song and average streams / song;
• Top 10 artists according to the total number of streams of the artist’s songs or the number of songs of the artist in the chart.

It is noteworthy that some correlations can be made between the most played songs and, in general, the most popular artists among Spotify users in Romania.
